About Me

Name: Kathryn Saraceno

Hometown: Rome NY
Major and School/College: Political Science, College of Arts and Sciences

I commute to school from about an hour away, I live in Rome NY. I hope to switch into the Whitman school to pursue a major in Real Estate. I’ve always known I wanted to be involved in Real Estate, but I was never sure that I wanted to take it on as a major. After exploring my options I have decided that I will be working extremely hard during my time here at Syracuse in an attempt to be accepted into Whitman which I know is a hard process. Besides my academic interests I am also very close with my family. I spend a majority of my time at home helping my mom or visiting with my grandparents and my sister.

I danced throughout high school and I still love to dance, although this has been difficult to pursue on campus because my classes take up so much of my time. I enjoy watching performances and I appreciate how people can express themselves through art work. I have always wanted to be able to express myself through dancing and that’s why I took such an interest in dance classes. I also strongly appreciate the ability each person has to be creative, we are all unique in our own sense and we all find different ways to express it, whether it be through stand up comedy or creating a painting. When expressing yourself through the arts it reflects upon you directly, yet what you create can go on to inspire and affect many others.

I believe that there are many benefits involved with having the opportunity to write about art encounters. Many times art encounters that you experience can be moving, it is important to be able to remember these experiences. No two people encounter art in the same ways. This makes each experience unique to you, therefore only you can share the encounter from your own perspective. This is a way to educate others on the experiences you’ve encountered and hopefully if you can accurately depict what you’ve experiences others can indirectly experience it as well.
